When the verifier-daemon confirms an operator-presented counter exceeds the substrate’s prior answer, the substrate retracts. Each retraction is a sealed event: a 12-field StageRecord with class=retraction, hash-chained to the original answer, anchored to public-blockchain attestation.
72-hour publication window. PII-redacted. Read-only surface over the canonical runtime_audit_chain.jsonl filter class=retraction.
How retraction fires
Operator presents counter
The operator (you, the caller) presents evidence that the substrate’s prior answer is incorrect. A file path, a benchmark, a citation, an on-chain event.
Verifier-daemon checks
The verifier-daemon at the workbench boundary measures the operator-counter against the prior answer. If the counter exceeds the answer in ground-truth conformance, retraction fires.
Chain anchors the retraction
A retraction StageRecord emits with the prior-answer hash, the counter citation, the silicon-DNA chip, the cause-class enum. Hash-chained, anchored within the next Bitcoin block.

“The substrate’s continuity is not load-bearing. The operator’s correctness is. When the operator is right and the substrate’s prior answer is not, the prior answer retracts. The retraction is on chain.”
